Before choosing a floor-to-ceiling cat tree, measure the distance from your floor to your ceiling at the exact position where your cat tree will be installed, as ceiling heights can vary slightly across a room, particularly in older properties. We would recommend measuring twice, just to be sure. Our products include an adjustable height range, so your ceiling height must fall within that range for the tree to fit and remain securely tensioned. You'll find the adjustable height range on each product page, with the maximum height often included in the product title for quick reference.

For example, if your ceiling measures 250cm, you'll need a cat tree with an adjustable height range that includes 250cm, such as 240-260cm. If your ceiling height falls outside the stated adjustment range, choose a different model designed for your ceiling height rather than trying to force the fit.

It depends on the individual product. Before buying, always check the recommended maximum weight, platform size and construction. Larger breeds such as Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats and Ragdolls place more force on a cat tree when climbing, jumping and landing.

When assessing floor-to-ceiling cat trees for larger cats, we look particularly closely at platform dimensions, post thickness, stated weight limits and how much movement there is in the structure when fully assembled and tensioned. These factors help us assess the overall stability of the cat tree and whether it provides enough space for a larger cat to climb, perch and rest comfortably.

In most cases, no. The majority of floor-to-ceiling cat trees are secured using an adjustable tension pole that fits tightly between the floor and ceiling, so they do not require drilling into walls or ceilings. This type of installation can be particularly useful for rented homes or for anyone who would prefer not to drill into their walls or ceiling.

When assembling and assessing tension-mounted cat trees, we check how the tension mechanism secures the tree between the floor and ceiling and how much movement there is in the structure once correctly installed.
